‘Accessible Culture’ programme becomes more and more popular
The last free museum lesson in the State Museum at Majdanek before the holiday season took place on June 19, 2018. The lessons were a part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage programme called ‘Accessible Culture’.
From January until June 2018 over 1200 students of primary schools, secondary schools and high schools from entire Poland participated in over 50 free museum lessons prepared by the Education Department of the State Museum at Majdanek. This is almost twice as many students as last year.
The most popular classes among the participants were: ‘Fate of children in Majdanek concentration camp’, ‘World behind the wires - attitude and experiences of Majdanek prisoners captured on the video reports’, ‘Art tales - the stories hidden behind the museum pieces’. During the lessons students visited the area of the former German concentration camp at Majdanek. They also learned about the history of this place via multimedia presentations, witnesses’ video reports, reference texts, and historical exhibition. The aim of the classes was not only to discover the past but also to discuss the present.
We invite you to participate in our free lessons again starting September 2018. For more information visit www.majdanek.eu and click the tab Education.
