Collaboration between the Museum at Majdanek and the Stanisław Staszic High School
On 5 December, the director of the State Museum at Majdanek, dr Tomasz Kranz, and the director of the Stanisław Staszic High School No. 1 in Lublin, Stanislaw Stoń, signed a cooperation agreement. It involves the implementation of joint ventures in the field of history education and enables high school students to take part in a voluntary service at the Museum.
It is worth mentioning that students attending the Stanisław Staszic High School in Lublin have had an opportunity to benefit from the educational offer of the Museum for already quite a long time, which is very popular among all students. Previously, within the framework of the collaboration, the so-called workcamps were organised during which students were helping in works in the area of the memorial site as well as were supporting works at Visitor Service Centre of the State Museum at Majdanek. What is more, thematic lessons for students from different classes were organised in the Stanisław Staszic High School. They are going to be continued in the form of lectures on German occupation and functioning of the former German concentration camp at Majdanek. A partnership contract is not only the opportunity for the young generation to learn by doing, but it is also part of the concept of extracurricular historical-social education called pedagogy of remembrance implemented by the Museum.
