Commemoration of the victims of Bloody Wednesday

On November 3, 1943, over 18 thousand Jews were murdered at Majdanek. It was the biggest execution by firing squad in the history of the German concentration camps. On Tuesday, a tribute was paid to the murdered.

Participants to the commemoration lit candles and laid down wreaths at the foot of the obelisk next to the Mausoleum. Pupils from the 10th Lower Secondary School in Lublin read out names and biographical entries of over 30 people murdered in the execution. For the victims prayed Roman Litman - a representative of the Jewish community in Lublin. A minute's silence was held as a mark of respect to Thomas Blatt who died in California aged 88.
