International Holocaust Remembrance Day, established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005, intends to commemorate the victims of Jewish origin murdered during World War II by Nazi Germany. The date of 27 January refers to the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp in 1945.

We hereby invite you to the "Voices of Memory" meeting with Samantha Rodriguez del Rio – a descendant of Holocaust victims, founder of "The Voice of the Silence" project, and an employee of the “Grodzka Gate – NN Theatre” Centre. This event offers an opportunity to discuss familial memory and to discover the history and details of our guest's international remembrance project. The meeting will be hosted by Marek Duda – a historian and guide from the State Museum at Majdanek.

Later, we will gather at the Monument-Gate and pay homage to all the victims of the Holocaust by lighting candles and laying wreaths. The commemoration will conclude with a guided tour of the museum, which will focus on the stories and fates of the Jewish prisoners of KL Lublin.

The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Visitor Service Centre. Admission is free of charge.

We would like to inform you that The State Museum at Majdanek will remain open to visitors on Monday, 27 January, during the planned International Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremonies.
