22 July Marks the 81st anniversary of the final liquidation of the Majdanek German Nazi concentration camp. Between October 1941 and July 1944 over 130,000 deportees went through its gates. Around 78,000 of them perished in the camp.

At 12:00 we will gather at the Mausoleum-Monument to honour their memory during a ceremony. Together with the survivors we will lay flowers to pay our homage to all the victims of KL Lublin.

The event will be preceded with a special guided tour through the former camp grounds, which will focus on the fate of Zacheusz Pawlak – a Polish survivor of Majdanek who authored a memoir entitled “Przeżyłem” [“I’ve Survived” that we have recently published in a new form.
