“PAST IN THE MUSEUMS – MUSEUMS IN THE FUTURE” CONFERENCE
On 23-24 October 2024 we are celebrating the 80th jubilee of the Museum. We are holding an event that will provide a forum for meeting with the representatives of various museums and institutions – especially the ones anchored in history.
In Autumn 1944, the State Museum at Majdanek was established as the world’s first institution commemorating the victims of World War II. Today it is a unique triad of the Holocaust remembrance that comprises three memorials on the former camp grounds in Lublin, Bełżec, and Sobibór.
For 24 October we invite everyone to the Lublin Conference Centre for our academic conference: “Past In The Museums – Museums In The Future.” It gathers leading experts from the fields of museology and remembrance culture. During the event we will also present our new book: “Past in the Historical Museums. Representations and Narratives.” The volume – edited by Tomasz Kranz and Aleksandra Skrabek – answers the key questions about the contemporary challenges faced by the historical museums.
