12 Months of Engagement

Volunteers from Austria and Germany

Two young, smiling people—a woman and a man—are standing with their backs to each other.
As August comes to an end, Paula Böttgenbach from Germany and Severin Telser from Austria end their yearly volunteering at the Museum.

Participants in the programme, representing the organisations Action Reconciliation Service for Peace and Gedenkdienst, were involved in the Museum’s activities throughout the year, supporting the day-to-day work of the Education Department and the Visitor Service Centre. As part of their voluntary work, they led guided tours in German and English, as well as preparing translations and conducting history workshops for young people. During their stay, Paula and Severin also met with members of the Polish Association of Former Political Prisoners of Nazi Prisons and Concentration Camps, which they recall as a valuable and moving experience. Their involvement played a significant role in preserving the memory of KL Lublin and passing it on to future generations.
