Voices That Never Fall Silent

We invite for the opening of a new exhibition, which concentrates on the stories of eight former prisoners of Majdanek. Their wartime experiences are known in detail thanks to the memoirs they wrote and which were donated to the Museum. The presented biographies show the reality of World War II from various perspectives – male and female alike, of experienced military personnel members and civilians engaged in the resistance. The exhibition includes a collection of artefacts related to the heroes, including their personal items. Exhibition curators – Marta Grudzińska and Magdalena Petruk – will share all the details during the premiere. The event will be opened by Tomasz Kranz, Director of the State Museum at Majdanek, and Rafał Rogulski, Director of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity.

During the second part of the event, we are hosting a panel discussion. Our guests will talk about the issues of family memory, the role of authentic testimonies of those who endured the German Nazi occupation, and many other topics.

Speakers:

Andrzej Korczak – grandson of Stefania Perzanowska, Majdanek survivor and physician who created the infirmary in the women’s camp.

Konrad Michalak – grandson of Jan Michalak, who at the age of 16 was deported to Majdanek with his parents in January 1943.

Bartosz Dziewanowski-Stefańczyk – deputy head of the research department at European Network Remembrance and Solidarity – institution that runs the “Remember 23 August” campaign.

Michał Nalewski – chief editor at the Prószyński Media publishing house. Through the cooperation with the State Museum at Majdanek the memoirs of survivors can reach bookstores all over the country.

The discussion will be anchored by Marta Grudzińska – historian from the State Museum at Majdanek and the chief scholarly editor of many survivors testimonies published as books. The exhibition opening and the panel discussion will take place in the Museum’s Visitor Service Centre.
