Historians' Debates About Operation "Reinhardt"

Operation ‘Reinhardt’ – what happened in the Lublin region 80 years ago? We sought answers to this question in conversations with historians. In a series of debates organised by the Museum to mark the 80th anniversary of the mass extermination of the Jewish population in the General Government, we sought to shed light on the German occupation of Lublin and the entire region. By discussing various aspects of Operation ‘Reinhardt’ – a central phase of the Holocaust – we traced the actions undertaken by German and Austrian Nazis and the steps they took on the path towards the complete extermination of the Jews in Europe.

A series of five in-depth discussions on the history of ‘Einsatz Reinhardt’ featured leading historians, researchers and museum professionals who specialise in the Holocaust and the realities of the German occupation of Poland and Europe during World War II.
